Formula 2 will return after 62 days with a double header at the Bahrain International Circuit. With 96 points left to be won, the World Championship is still up for grabs with several drivers still in contention.
Championship leader Mick Schumacher comes into the event after an impressive double podium last time out in Sochi, extending his lead in the standings to 23 points. Hot on his heels is Brit Callum Ilott, who will be hoping to have a consistent weekend of scoring points to ensure that the Championship goes down to the wire. Schumacher can wrap up the title this weekend if he manages to outscore Ilott by 29 points. The Constructors Championship can also be sealed this weekend, the Prema team need to outscore UNI-Virtuosi by 39 points to seal the victory.
Both drivers will be hoping for a good weekend in order to further claim for the two Haas seats available next year. Similarly, Japanese rookie Yuki Tsunoda will also be aiming for another trip to the podium with the prospects of a seat at Alpha Tauri on the horizon.
